    • RE: Can I use more than one Flic hub?

Hi, was this every worked out? With my old house, I will need several hubs if I want to use buttons in different rooms. At this point I don't anticipate any "mobile" buttons, but one never knows what the future will bring. Additionally, I will want buttons in multiple locations to be able to control the same matter-enabled devices. Can i import a matter device into multiple FLIC hubs?

If this does work the way Emil describes above, it would be great to have a backup/restore/clone functions instead of having to add configurations to multiple hubs. Sorta weird that there is no backup function today...

    • RE: Curious Potential Buyer

"The Frame" TV does have SmartThings integration...and FLIC can add SmartThings as a Provider. I'm thinking it can be done. Unfortunately my Frame is under my wife's account, so I can't do any experimenting right now...

    • Flic Twist- Unprompted Transmissions

Hey there, about 6 months ago I started having weird behavior on one smartplug attached light. It would turn on spontaneously, or when it was on it would brighten on its own. I contacted the OEM of the smartplug (Leviton) to see if there's a way they can tell what prompted it- a Matter command, or a Leviton command, or something else. They said they would turn on logging. I contacted them a couple times with specific dates and times, but they never got back to me. The other day it got really bad- would turn on; i would turn it off with the flic button; it would go back on. Then something dawned on me- I had seen behavior like this when I just had the Twist sitting on my desk. If I placed something down hard on the desk, the light would brighten. Annoying!! (Flic, fix that too!) I then mounted it under a cabinet on my desktop hutch. That behavior stopped, and only does it when I close that cabinet door hard.
So I tried something- I took the batteries out of the Twist, and VIOLA! the light stopped turning itself. Put them back in, and the lights went into zombie mode again. Did that several teams to confirm it was in fact the twist doing it. Waited a day, put them back in, same issue. Oh well, it's 18 months old now, I guess I'll just order a new one (I ordered two 😞 ). A couple days later, before trashing the old one, I had a thought- maybe this is low battery behavior? So I got out a fresh pair of AAs and put them in- and the lights behaved as expected! Figured it was the batteries. But then I had ANOTHER thought (I gotta stop that) and retrieved the old batteries from the wastebin and put them back in- and now the light is behaving normally.
So I guess my question is: is this a hardware issue with this particular Twist? Is if firmware? If so, then others should be experiencing this issue.
Lastly, I'm wondering if there's any logging or diagnostics in my hub (I have a mini) that would've helped me troubleshoot this way back when.
      Thoughts anyone? Thanks for reading!

    • RE: Replacing a device- how to updated FLIC?

@Emil Bummer. Maybe one for the sprint list?? 🙂 Thanks for the quick reply.

I still have a conundrum in my hub I'm trying to resolve. It's telling me I can't remove the dead device since it's not online. Catch-22!

    • Replacing a device- how to updated FLIC?

Hi there, I recently had a smart plug fritz out on me. I replaced it with the same model and gave it the same name. How do I update my FLIC hub to use the new device? I deleted it in the "Matter" section and added the new one. But some FLIC button actions don't work. (In fact, I think none of them worked- I already updated a few). But now I'm trying to use the Twist to control the light, and there's a bunch of points to update within that. Is there not an easy way to update ALL my Flic actions with one fell swoop instead of having to go into every button/twist and make the updates?? Thanks.

    • RE: Looking for Smart Plugs that have "Toggle" in Alexa routines

@sfmclaugh said in Looking for Smart Plugs that have "Toggle" in Alexa routines:

Want to control my lights w/flic2 plugged into smart plugs using one-button press. No clue what to buy. Current plugs only have "On" and "Off". Any tips?

Is that an Alexa routines thing or a device thing? My Leviton smart plugs have a "toggle" to control them via Matter, but the routines in Alexa offer only on, off, and brightness. I suppose you could use multiple actions in your Flic Hub configuration for that button- use Matter to do the desired toggle, then an Alexa routine to control the other actions you wish this routine to perform?

    • RE: Will a FLIC hub ever support third-party "controllers"?

Well, I'm learning more now! Leviton did tell me that yes, in fact, their 4 device switch/controller advertises itself and functions as a "light" endpoint, and also 3 "Generic Switch" endpoints. So my hope here is that I would be able to add my 3 "Generic" switches to my Flic Hub, and then control my other matter lights/outlets/etc. with the switch, without having to add another Matter controller to the mix.

Is this in the future for my FLIC hub??

    • RE: Will a FLIC hub ever support third-party "controllers"?

Ok, i think i'll ask my last question- no, my question does NOT make sense!

Slowly learning matter, and it looks like the Matter device must support "multi-admin" mode (which, allegedly, virtually all Matter certified devices do).

Next, I need another Matter Controller / Hub. Seems like there's a million options out there.

Then- since my Flic hub now "owns" my matter devices- I need to "Share" the Matter device from the Flic Hub.

I can then commission the device on the additional Matter controller and control the device via either a FLIC button or another Matter device managed by this <future> second hub.

At least that's what I think needs to happen right now. Maybe after some more research I'll change my tune yet again!!

    • Will a FLIC hub ever support third-party "controllers"?

As currently constituted, the FLIC hub only supports FLIC devices as "input" devices. But with the nature of Matter (devices can only be registered to one hub) means that I can't use any other input devices* to control a device that is currently being controlled by a FLIC button.

For example, I have a 4 button Leviton wall switch that is now getting Matter functionality. I want to be able to control a Matter device with both a Flic button/twist AND a button on my wall switch. To do this, there would have to be a facility to import a non-FLIC device on my Flic hub.

Maybe my lack of Matter knowledge is showing here, but I'm currently trying to wean off a home full of UPB devices- where it was a no-brainer to control a UPB device from one manufacturer with a UPB switch from a different manufacturer.

      Does this make sense??

    • RE: Matter devices showing offline

@buckyswider Hi @Emil ! So I installed that beta Matter code on my Leviton plugs and switches...and VIOLA! They are now all advertising the proper tcp service all the time. (At least for the first 24 hours or so). So it seems like we are good. Presumably now the FLIC hub will never show these as "offline" again. Thanks for your counseling!

I do have another Matter related question that came up dealing with Leviton support. But I don't want to be guilty of "thread drift", so I'll start a new thread.

      Thanks again!

    • RE: Matter devices showing offline

@Emil Thanks for that awesome engagement Emil! I should've ran my query through perplexity, since that gives source links. Gotta learn to take chatgpt with healthy skepticism!
Anyhow, Leviton has said that their devices are coded to advertise the protocol, so they feel there is some sort of bug. They have offered me their latest matter beta code, which I will load onto my devices next week (out of town right now) and see if there is any difference. I'll keep you posted.
      Thanks again!
