Flic button stopped working with Sonos/Android
-
I set up a Flic button to toggle pause/play on a Sonos speaker (through my Android phone) about a year ago. It worked great, I used it multiple times every day up until mid-January. Out of the blue, it just stopped working. Pressing the button now makes a loud... I'll call it an "error buzzing" from the phone, and nothing happens.
In the Android notifications area it says from the Flic service, "Unable to connect to Sonos speaker".
Yes I've tried all the things: reboot phone; reboot Sonos; changing Sonos speaker; uninstalling Flic/reinstalling; deleting action and re-adding (it can find all the speakers properly); nothing fixed it.
As a workaround, I changed the action from "Sonos" to "Global Music Control" - meaning the phone pauses whatever media is playing. This is working.
But it would be great to go back to Sonos so I can pause no matter what's playing on this speaker.

@john-j-baumbach FYI: this was fixed in the Apr 2 2024 release of the Android app. Button works again!

@dazziz yes!
-
@Emil has the update been published?
-
@dazziz We have the app update ready and will send it in to Google Play next week if everything goes according to the plan.
-
Having the same issues and nothing seems to solve it, hoping for a fix soon since most of my Flic buttons are now useless ️
-
@Emil do you happen to have an update on this? I just checked, still not working.
-
@Emil whoa, that would be brilliant, looking forward to the fix.
-
@john-j-baumbach thanks. I think we managed to reproduce this issue. It seems Sonos rolled out a firmware update which slightly changed a few things in the communication. We will push a new app update which will fix this.

@Emil There is no hub, just a Flic button connected directly to the phone. Sonos is also controlled directly from and app on the phone. The Sonos app on the phone works to control everything fine still. The Flic button works fine with everything EXCEPT Sonos.

@richlansdowne I have now managed to convince Sonos that it wanted to perform another update. After going through this (including it failing twice) Flic is up and running again.
Seems that something strange was happening on the Sonos end rather than the Flic.

Have you connected the Sonos speaker to Android directly or do you connect Sonos to the Flic Hub?

I have many Sonos speakers in different rooms, I have 4 twists and about a dozen buttons. I updated Sonos a few days ago and now, nothing working from flic to Sonos.
I can refresh the speaker list fine and see all the speakers on there. But anything I select on any action tied to the buttons or the twists is just ignored by Sonos. I see the little icon pulsate in the Flic app to see that the app sees the action, but the communication to Sonos is broken.
If I change the action to ask Alexa to control the sonos then that works. Sadly, this means that the twists are suddenly completely useless as the 'volume' function is not usable via Alexa
