Firewall rules
-
Hi,
I'm trying to set up a Flic Hub at my work for personnal use.- the less blocked wifi as a hidden SSID. Any way to connect to it ?
- the other wifi must have strong firewall rules because :
- i can connect to it
- wifi test connection in the hub says its ok
- but http request (in my case https to Pushover API) does not work
- i can't connect to ifft
- i can connect to spotify
Any tricks ?
More over what can I ask to the IT guy in term of firewall modifications in order to let the http request work ?Thanks

@duncan-cunningham Your ethernet (cabled) MAC address should be 3e:c8:dd:d7:c3:32. Please contact our Device Manager support for questions about Device Manager.

I'm also wanting to add it to a flic Device manager so if we add more hubs we can centrally manage them. I am unable to get this one to authenticate

@duncan-cunningham If you give me the serial number I can lookup the MAC address.

Thank you for the quick response.I will see if our network team will be able to help us. I'll mention the TCP ports 80/443 and UDP 53. The hub reports that a test of the internet works but it can't send button triggers through it. We are in a corporate environment, so I certainly do not have access to the routers in any way.
They might not appreciate me WireSharking their network. Most products that have network ports on them publish the MAC addresses on the item's casing or a sticker on the box it came in.
If this doesn't work, we'll be returning the product as this might not function well for us in a professional work environment. One with lots of security, anyway.
I want this work though. I love the product for person use.

@duncan-cunningham The hub does not use any particular obscure ports except the ones typically used for normal Web communication. As explained in my previous reply, such as TCP port 80/443 and UDP port 53. So if you connect any laptop instead of the hub and make sure it works to surf any Web page, it should work for the hub as well.
The mac address can typically be seen in the router's Web interface. If not, start Wireshark on your computer running on the same LAN as the hub and start an mDNS scan on the hub, for example by scanning for Sonos devices. Then you should see some packets originating from the hub including the mac address.

I've just purchased a Flic Hub LR for use at work. We want it for Microsoft Power Automate triggers. So far so good. If my testing goes well, this might be a solution a few more in the company might want to consider too.
Our network must be blocking some ports that are required to be opened between the hub and the external internet.
What do I need to ask our network guys to do for me to make the hub work. Minimum ports TCP/UDP. I know it works on my phones hotspot because that is totally open, but I want this device to be wired.
I will also have to give them the mac address of the hub too. Not sure where to find that out yet.

- We don't really support hidden Wi-Fi networks.
- The connection test actually performs a standard http request over port 80 to a pre-defined URL. The Internet Request action simply executes a standard request. IFTTT and Spotify Web Connect also connect to various https endpoint on their servers. So, as long as the firewall allows TCP traffic over port 80 and 443, it should work. Of course a DNS server (the one assigned by the DHCP server) at UDP port 53 must also be able to be reached, assuming you use domain names instead of raw IP addresses.
