Known issues with the Flic 1/classic/original?

I've exhausted my stock of Flic 2 buttons and thought I'd head back to my Flic 1 buttons for some new automations. I'd forgotten that across a set of 5 of them, they all have one of the below 2 issues:

1. put a battery in and the light turns on solid and does not turn off
2. put a battery in, the light turns on, then off, and then responds to a few button presses before not powering up any more

I've not been able to find anything via search, since it all just blurs into queries about the Flic 2.

Is there anything I can do to fix the older buttons? I'm assuming since all of mine are doing this it must be a known problem. I'd much rather spend some effort getting them working than send them to landfill

@webash I haven't heard about batteries who destroy Flics.

Did you measure the voltage of the batteries with a multimeter to confirm they are good? Note that the Flic 1 hardware is a bit more picky of having stable battery voltage compared to Flic 2.

@Emil hi! Thanks for the reply. The cells I've been trying are fresh from the shop, fresh from the packet Duracell batteries. So they should be more than fine for the task.

I had at some point used some cheap no-name ones from Amazon though - could that have permanently damaged the buttons?

@webash make sure your batteries are fresh and not old, i.e. make sure they have at least 3.0 V left.

If you put in a too weak battery, the Flic will fail to boot and leave the LED constantly on.
