Flic Twist uses
-
So I ordered without doing my research, and it seems that the "wildlessly configurable" and "simple and intuitive" device is actually extremely limited and in order to work with the wide arrange of smart devices is complex and difficult coding and sequencing with intermediary services. So as I wait for my tinkering device to arrive, I'm wondering how people have actually been able to utilize the twist from the Flic Twist?
As far as I know:
- Change lighting brightness/color for Hue and Lifx
- Changing volume for Sonos speakers only....
....?
Is the twist feature able to be utilized in Home Assistant, IFTTT, or any other intermediary service? If not, is there a way to program that when you rotate, it simulates "set volume to 50%" based on where it was rotated to? Like rotate it one click up and it equals a press that triggers "Increase volume 10%", rotate one click down equals a press that triggers "decrease volume 10%".
Anyway, really curious on how people have been creative to actually utilize the twist feature, and how they did it.

Unfortunately, they haven't.
I as well as many here, are HomeAssistant users looking to do similar things, but they have not updated the SDK to support the twist, and it has been multiple months since it's release. There is still no way to use the twist functionality outside of the.. what, 2-3? integrations that they have listed in the app.
They seem to refuse to update the SDK with this functionality, even though they had years to get the software ready for the release of this device. You try and bring it up here, everything just goes silent. No one will give an update, timeline, anything. Absolutely terrible customer service and product support.
We all just have a bunch of fancy paper weights at this point.

Ah, yes - let me share with you, all the ways I can use the 3 Twists I bought:
I have a HomeKit only home - and I use regular Flic 2 buttons for all my light switches. And while it's not Smart Lab's fault that dimmers/dials doesn't work with Matter/HomeKit, I can't, for the life of me, understand why the middle/button part of the twist has less functionality than the regular Flic buttons...
If I could click the middle to toggle lights, I would use the dial to control brightness. And maybe see if it works better for Sonos control than the IKEA dial I have now.
