Hub not working with Alexa after a minute
-
Hello. Does anyone have the same issue with me?
I have a Hub with three buttons.
I have been using the buttons alright for over a year now to invoke Alexa routines.
The issue suddenly began happening yesterday.
The buttons started not invoking the Alexa routines. So I power-cycled the Hub. It started working again, but after a minute or so, the buttons stopped working again.
I tried to remove all Alexa routines, remove the button “push” devices from Alexa, unlink the Flic app from Alexa, and start from beginning. Again, the buttons work for about a minute and then stop working.
I see from the Flic app, when I connect to the Hub, as I push the buttons, the button images shown in the Flic app react. It probably means the Hub receives the events from the buttons.
When I look at the activities on the Alexa-side, while the buttons do not work, no activities are recorded. It probably means, while the push events from the buttons reach the Hub, they do not reach Alexa.
What is strange is, every time I power-cycle the Hub, meaning I pull the power cable and connect it again to the Hub, the buttons do work but for just about a minute or so.
I even updated the Hub’s firmware to 4.2.5 during my troubleshooting. That did not fix the issue.
What could be the issue and solution?
Thanks in advance.

Thank you very much for the idea.
I tried again using my phone's hotspot, and it worked.
It gave me the idea the home network could be the issue.
I turned off the Eero Advanced Security feature. Now, the Hub can talk to Alexa.

@ronia-net I'm not sure what the reason could be except internet connectivity issues. Could you try disconnect the hub from ethernet or wifi, and instead connect to a hot spot on your phone? Let me know if it still stops working after a minute.

Glad to see yours began working alright again!
After seeing your post, I tested mine again. Surely, after power-cycling the Hub, it still works for just a minute and then it stops working ...

@denton Shortly after posting this things started working again. I am not sure what solved the problem but I believe it was related to a password reset. I had reported the issue to flic support so maybe they did something? Changes in the flic app are now immediately reflected in alexa devices.
I have been fighting this for a few weeks but as of right now everything works.

I have also have a hub with 3 buttons. Mine have all been setup and working great for well over a year. No changes that I am aware of with any of the setup.
Recently my Alexa routines cannot be invoked via the buttons.
The same buttons can control other devices eg Phillips hue but not Alexa. My hub has a wired connection to the network and the hub shows connected to the internet. The flic app on my phone shows the button presses.
I tried disabling and re-enabling the flic skill in the alexa app. I receive an email from amazon saying the skill is enabled but it doesn't work.
In desperation I deleted the buttons from alexa, disabled the alexa skill, removed the buttons from the hub, removed the hub from my app, deleted the app from my phone and went through the setup process again.
Now, I cannot get alexa to discover the buttons at all now. The buttons still work great for other actions.
All indications are that something is broken between the the flic and amazon cloud services.
