First button click slow to respond?

I have a Flic Hub with a Flic 2 button connected in Active mode. This button is on my bedside table and is used a few times in the evening to control the volume on my Chromecast.
However, despite being in "Active" mode, the first button click on an evening takes a few seconds to respond...it's as if its making a connection to the Hub first (which takes time) in order to run the action.
Is this delay avoidable? (Subsequent clicks on that evening are instant)
